Walk and Talk Therapy
Walk and Talk Therapy
in Richmond in North Yorkshire
I offer Walk and Talk Therapy in the beautiful Richmond countryside. There is evidence to support that being amongst nature and walking has many positive physical and mental health benefits. It may feel easier to address a personal difficulty whilst walking, with a therapist alongside. For some people, this may feel preferable to sitting opposite someone in a counselling room.
You may find it easier to express anxiety or life challenges, without the constant gaze of the therapist. Stress from talking about personal issues may feel alleviated through walking, rather than have it contained in the therapy room. The outdoor environment can also be used to work therapeutically and nature in itself can offer healing.
Personal difficulties such as anxiety, depression, loss or a sense of feeling ‘stuck’ can be explored by reflecting on the elements of the outdoors.
Our feelings can be reflected in nature and the changes of the seasons. New buds in Spring might help us to explore hope. Autumn and winter might help us to reflect on loss. The slippery mud might help us identify how things might feel like they are shifting at the moment. Walking up a hill might bring into awareness current challenges.
You may wish to skim some stones along the river. How might this inform you as you watch the stones bounce along the water or (as when I attempt this!) they sink? What answers might you find for yourself in nature?
Walk and Talk therapy may offer you an opportunity to feel calmer, safer, and soothed.
There is also the option to combine outdoor therapy with online therapy, depending on weather or your personal commitments.
Please contact me if you are drawn to the idea of nature as part of therapy.

Get In Touch
I appreciate that making initial contact can be difficult. After an informal telephone conversation, I would suggest we arrange an initial session for us both to assess if we are able and willing to work together.
Due to the nature of my work, you may find that your call goes to my voicemail. I know this can be off-putting but please don’t be shy and leave me a message. I will endeavour to contact you at the first opportunity, usually on the same day.
